Scar treatment

Firstly, it must be mentioned that scars can not be fully removed, they stay forever. The duty of the plastic surgeon is to make them look less visible. Scars occur on the skin because of different kinds of injuries, surgeries, burns, etc. A surgeon examines the scar and decides what kind of treatment is most suitable considering the factors of age, skin type, ethnic background, and type of the scar.

Procedure. Normally the procedure is done in local anesthesia and takes around 30 minutes to an hour. The top layer of the skin is removed with laser, allowing the new skin to grow over and smoothly reducing the appearance of the scar. Patient is allowed to go home straight after the procedure.
