Female genital cosmetic surgery

There is a global rise of female genital surgeries, mainly because of increased awareness of these procedures. Female genital cosmetic surgery (labiaplasty) involves surgery of labia minora (inner lips) and labia majora (outer lips). Labia minora is the most popular surgery of female genitals and involves reducing the size of inner lips so that they do not exceed the outer lips, also asymmetry may be corrected. Women chose labiaplasty because of their dissatisfaction with appearance, as well as discomfort in activities like bike riding.

Surgery. Surgery can be made in general or local anesthesia. The surgery is performed to shorten or reshape the vaginal lips by the scalpel or laser. Most of the patients are allowed to go home on the same day. Recovery can take up to a few months, and sexual activities must be avoided for a few weeks. Sanitary towels are used instead of tampons, and it is advised to wear loose underwear.
